Often one wonders that if the Qur’ān and Sunnah are the guidelines by which a Muslim treads the path of life and finds success, why should one recourse to anything else? The secret to this lies in the subtleties of the vast Arabic language that lead to multiple interpretations. Join us as we peruse a text written by one of the great living libraries and masters of the sacred Islamic sciences, Shaykh Ni’matullāh al-‘A’dhamī, titled Tas’hīl al-Usūl (Facilitating the Foundations), and uncover the underlying causes for differences of opinion while understanding the correct method of interpreting the sacred texts.
Glimpses into Islamic Ethics
Time: 12pm - 1pm CDT
One of the central roles of Rasulullah ﷺ is to guide mankind in attaining moral perfection so that they may succeed in this world and the afterlife. The moral and ethical code of a Muslim is firmly rooted in the infallible teachings of the Quran and Sunnah and one must obtain their standard of good and evil from these two. Join us as we explore one of the earliest works and the first documented treatise on Islamic ethics, penned by the great Imam al-Hārith Al-Muhāsabī: Risālah al-Mustarshidīn (A Treatise for Those Seeking Guidance) in an attempt to understand the true natures of virtue and vice in light of the holy scriptures.
