Full-Time and Part-Time Hifz School: Our hifz school currently houses 50 full time students and 25 part time students, catering to both boys and girls. Our program consists of a thorough memorization of the Holy Qur’an, with a strong emphasis on daily revision and the science of tajweed (Qur’anic pronounciation). The hifz program at DarusSalam uniquely couples the memorization of the Qur’an with a complete Islamic studies curriculum, consisting of hadith (prophetic traditions), fiqh (Islamic law), seerah (the prophetic biography), and duas (supplications). All modules are conducted by qualified scholars. Male and female classes are completely separate, with girl classes conducted by a qualified hafizah in a safe, comfortable, all-female environment. Classes run Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Adult Tajweed Courses: Adult tajweed courses offer a convenient opportunity for busy working professionals to improve their pronunciation and reading of the Holy Qur’an. Classes are offered Saturday mornings for men and Sunday mornings for women.
Adult Part-time Arabic:The Adult Part-time Arabic program is an intensive evening program designed for dedicated adults who want to take their understanding of the Qur’an to the next level. The class meets for two hours, three days a week and is offered periodically.
Summer Arabic Courses: The Summer Arabic Intensive is an eight-week course that is offered annually during the summer. This provides an amazing opportunity for full time college and high school students to appreciate the language of the Quran. The benefits of this course are priceless, as Arabic is the necessary foundation to further Islamic study. This year’s program will run Monday to Friday from June 3 to July 26 from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
After-School, Summer and Winter Programs: Multiple classes for various age groups from elementary grades through college are offered each summer. In the past we have held a fiqh intensive program during the winter break and revision classes for huffaz. We hope to continue to offer such programs and more in the future.
Alim Program: This program entails a comprehensive study of the traditional Islamic sciences over a period of six years. Students who complete this course will be awarded an Ijazah, formal authorization, in hadith and other Islamic disciplines.
Sisters’ Fiqh Class: This two-hour class is held on Sundays and covers the fiqh of taharah, ritual purification and ibadat. It is taught by a qualified Alimah.
Daily Halaqahs: Insha’Allah, our daily congregants can participate in and benefit from the knowledge imparted during regular halaqas offered after the prayers.
New Muslim Immersion Courses: Converts to Islam have special needs in order to transition to their new faith community. We will Insha’Allah offer classes to teach new Muslims the basics of Islam, how to read the Qur’an and more.
Women-Only Seminars: With the assistance of a female scholar-in-residence, we plan to have many educational programs to benefit the sisters of our community.
Workshops: We hope to offer workshops on relevant topics such as the fiqh of marriage, division of inheritance in Islam, the rituals of Hajj, calculating Zakat and the upbringing of children in Islam.
